About First Baptist Church is a member of the Western Baptist Association, Georgia Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. Founded in 1828 our congregation is ever growing and ministering in the heart of downtown Newnan. Mission WHAT WE PRACTICE COME Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28 ESV). The invitation to come to God is extended many other times in the Bible. We invite you to come and join us in worship of the One who calls all unto Himself. CONNECT The Bible compares the church to the human body, in which many diverse members are connected together and led by the head, who is Christ. Being part of a local body of believers allows us to connect with one another as members of the body of Christ. We invite you to connect with Christ through membership in our local body of believers. GROW Christians are called to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 3:18). We come to know Christ and grow in grace through the study of God’s word. We invite you to join us for Bible study and fellowship in one of our many Sunday school classes or study groups. GO Jesus told his disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:19-20). The Great Commission remains our mission today as we go with the Gospel in our community, across the country, and around the globe. We invite you to go with us to carry the Gospel to all people, inviting them to come to Christ, to connect with Him, to grow in grace and knowledge, and to go and share the Good News with others.
