About OPWDD is responsible for coordinating services for more than 130,000 New Yorkers with developmental disabilities. Story OPWDD, through its 22,000 state employees and network of nearly 800 nonprofit and not-for-profit providers, offers high-quality, person-centered services, supports, and advocacy to more than 130,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families statewide every day. OPWDD also provides leadership and excellence in research and in developing public policy in the field of developmental disabilities.
