About:
About The IPA answers questions and take complaints about San Jose Police. The IPA offers community presentations about our legal rights and responsibilities. Story If you have concerns about the actions of a San Jose police officer you file a complaint in-person, or by phone, fax, mail or email. If you have criminal charges related to the incident that are still pending, we suggest that you speak to an attorney before filing a complaint. It’s not required but it is recommended. If you would like to speak to someone face to face, it's recommended that you make an appointment by calling (408) 794-6226. That way, you can be sure someone will be availalbe. The IPA office offers general presentations to schools, churches, neighborhood groups, business associations, community centers, local agencies, and community organizations. A youth-focused presentation is also available. For more information, please call (408) 794-6226. Mission The mission of the Office of the Independent Police Auditor (IPA) is to provide independent oversight of and instill confidence in the complaint process through objective review of police misconduct investigations. By providing outreach to the San Jose community and making thoughtful policy recommendations to the City Council, the IPA works to promote accountability and to strengthen the relationship between the San Jose Police Department and the community it serves. Products We are part of the City of San Jose but seperate from the San Jose Police Department. We are here to hear your concerns about San Jose police officers and to educate the public about our services.
