About The Prevention Resource Center works to ensure the safety of the community by gathering and sharing information related to abuse of various substances. Story The Prevention Resource Center (PRC) serves Region 5 in the Texas system of 11 regions. Region 5 covers the counties of Angelina, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity and Tyler. We have been designated by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas and the Department of State Health Services to do the following: - Collect relevant data on underage drinking, marijuana abuse, prescription drug abuse and other drugs and to assess the need for prevention services in Region 5. - Liaise with schools, public health, local & state governmental agencies, coalitions, and community organizations to raise public awareness, and to coordinate prevention preparedness. **Ask us about Leo The Lion** - Educate retailers concerning the sale of tobacco to minors and encourage compliance to Texas tobacco laws.
