About We sell spices in several ways including small and large jars, refills in plastic bags and bulk by the pound. We currently offer over 135 blends, many of them proprietary. Our blends are shipped across the Midwest and are found as far South as Florida! Story Central Illinois Spice Company (Spice Of Life) began operations on June 1st, 1991. Purchased from a family in Ohio by Lynn and Richard Barra the business initially started as a home business. Quickly it moved into an incubator in Decatur, Illinois. Due to customer demand it expanded from just dried spices to spice blends, dried mushrooms, dried fruits, chili peppers, beans, rice, nuts, flavors, extracts, and grains. Centrally Illinois Produce purchased items from Spice Of Life for several years and could tell they were highly ethical, customer service oriented company, who sold only high quality products. After learning the owners wanted to cut back their work schedule and start preparing for retirement, Central Illinois Produce worked with them to acquire Spice Of Life in which Central Illinois Spice Company was born.
