About:
About The La Vernia Volunteer Fire Department is an volunteer fire department established in 1918 and incorporated in 1981. Story The La Vernia Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer fire department established in 1918 and incorporated in 1981. Operating from three stations, the La Vernia VFD currently provides fire suppression, and rescue to the citizens in a 75 square-mile area of Northwest Wilson County. In November of 2008, the citizens of our primary coverage area overwhelmingly supported the creation of the county's first emergency services district, Wilson County ESD #1, to fund firefighting and rescue operations. Since its' creation, the WC ESD #1 has substantially upgraded all equipment, apparatus, and facilities used by the La Vernia VFD and provided its' members with the opportunity to receive the highest levels of training in the history of the department. Today, the department has approximately 40 active responders, from 3 stations. The department welcomes the public and all those interested in becoming a member to visit the Main Station located at 12190 US Hwy 87 W. Meetings are held each Thursday at 6:30 PM.
