About Independent Fundamental Baptist Church Story Cornerstone Baptist Church, Missouri City, TX An Independent Fundamental Baptist Church Independent: We are an autonomous church, governed by the congregation Fundamentalist: We sing hymns that glorify God and we stick to the fundamentals of the gospel of Jesus Christ, preaching from the Authorized King James bible. Baptist: We believe that we are all born sinners and can only find salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a gift of grace and not of works. We also believe that after salvation, all believers should follow Christ in believer's baptism as a symbol of a new birth in Jesus Christ. Mission WHAT WE BELIEVE God We believe in one God manifested in three co-equal persons: Father (Psalm 83:18), Son (Matthew 3:17 , Matthew 17:5 , Mark 9:7 , Luke 9:35 , 15:24) and Holy Spirit (John 4:24 , John 16:8,13). Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ was, is, and will always be God (John 8:42). He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life (1 Peter 2:22 , 1 John 3:5) while here on earth. The Bible We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word. God has preserved His Word to all generations. The Authorized King James version is God’s preserved Word in the English language. (2 Timothy 3:16 , Proverbs 30:5 , Hebrews 4:12) Salvation We believe in both a literal, eternal Heaven (Genesis 1:1 , Revelation 4 , 2 Corinthians 5:1 , John 14:2 ,) and a literal, eternal Hell. (Revelation 14:11 , Revelation 20:10-15 , 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 , Mark 9:43-48 , Luke 16:23-24 , Jude 1:7 , Matthew 22:13 , Isaiah 14:9-12 , Isaiah 66:24) We believe in salvation by God’s grace through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because all people are sinners, there is absolutely nothing we can do to merit salvation. (Hebrews 13:8 , Hebrews 9:14,22 , Ephesians 2:8-9 , John 3:16 , John 14:6 , Acts 4:12) Baptism & Church Membership All believers should be baptized by immersion, join a local, Bible-believing Baptist Church and take an active part in that church through both giving and serving. (Romans 6:3-6) Discipleship & Missions We believe that God has given each believer the responsibility to witness for Christ, and each local church the responsibility to preach the Gospel at home and abroad through missionaries. (Matthew 28:18-20) Christian Lifestyle We believe that all Christians should live lives’ separated from the world and consecrated to Christ. (Romans 12:2 , Amos 3:3 , Ephesians 5:11 , 2 Corinthians 6:14 , John 17:13-16) Imminent Coming of Christ We believe that Jesus Christ will return. He will first rapture all believers then return after the tribulation to begin His literal, millennial reign on this earth. (Matthew 24:29-31 , 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
