About Since 1984, Adult Literacy Program at Abington Free Library helped more than 4,000 adults improve their English reading, writing and comprehension skills. Story Free Adult Literacy Program for both native English speakers and English language learners in the region looking to improve their English reading, writing and comprehension skills. Small group classes and one-on-one tutoring are offered free of charge. Interested adult learners and volunteer tutors should call the program office at 215-885-5183 to make an appointment to come in. Mission The mission of the Adult Literacy Program at the Abington Free Library is to help area adults improve their English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills so they can be productive and participating members of society. The program is free of charge; priority is given to low-income adults who need to improve their skills in order to increase their job prospects and support their families.
