Story The Tallmadge Fire Department proudly serves this community of 17,000, just east of the City of Akron in Summit County. The division of Fire & EMS provides emergency services to the citizens of Tallmadge, as well as fire prevention and education. The Fire Department and EMS squads consist of 14 full-time and 45 part-time firefighters and paramedics. The Tallmadge Fire Department is an active participant in the Summit County Special Operations Response Team (SORT). • Hazardous Materials • Trench Rescue, Confined Space, Structural Collapse and High Angle • Water Rescue The Tallmadge Fire Department offers a number of special programs throughout the year to assist our residents: • Safety Town, school safety programs and the Children’s Hospital Juvenile Fire Setters Programs • Business fire safety inspections, fire extinguisher classes and event safety planning • Senior Lock Box Program and Vial of Life (Click link for forms) • Akron Children’s Burn Care (ACBC) aluminum can collection site @ Station 1 • Blood Pressure Checks (8 am – 5 pm) and scheduled fire station tours
