About Glorifying God through Gospel-Centered Disciple-making Story When people describe a church, they often think of a specific time and place (Sunday morning at a building with a big meeting room). We say take away the building and our "big event" on Sunday mornings and see what's left! If you see people who are being changed, people whose relationship with Jesus is turning them into something new and good, then you're looking at the church. Transformed lives serving others in Jesus' name - that's what we want you to envision when you think about Collierville Bible Church. Let's not bother with the totally awesome logo and the catchy slogan. What are we REALLY about? Two kinds of people come to CBC and find what they're looking for. Some are searching for new life. They're not interested in just "going to church." They are looking for a whole new kind of life with God in the center. To those searching for this kind of life, our mission is to help them unlock the incredible power of these words: "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life" (Jesus, Gospel of John, 4:14). Others are yearning for significance. They want their lives to count for something more than owning a nice home and enjoying some free time for hobbies and vacations. To those searching for purpose, our mission is to give them the tools and skills to turn this amazing promise into reality: And Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men" (Jesus, Gospel of Mark, 1:17). CBC could be described as an evangelical, doctrinally conservative church. Collierville Bible Church is an independent congregation - it is not part of a larger organization nor a representative of a particular denomination. "Evangelical" is a word that describes lots of different kinds of churches who have this in common: They proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and believe it is essential to do so. To say that CBC is doctrinally conservative means that we're not interested in innovation, novelty, or creativity when it comes to interpreting the Bible. We strive to be faithful to the timeless truths taught in God's word. God challenges us in the Bible: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). A church ought to be defined by the fact that there are certain truths she confesses. She stands for something. The Statement of Faith at CBC tells you about what we consider the core truths of the Bible. Folks from the lone star state say, "Don't mess with Texas." CBC'ers say, "Dont mess with the Statement of Faith." These are the truths we are willing to defend with our lives. Come see us and learn more about us...we would love to get to know you more too!!! Mission We are very much a "truth-driven" church. We are students of the Bible, but not just students in an academic sense. We study the Bible so we can live out its teachings in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are committed to authenticity and community. We strive for genuineness, not a show or performance. We think true spirituality grows best in a place where people are being real with one another. We want our worship to be God centered. Much that looks like worship is centered on man, not God. We are not flashy or showy - we work at "getting out of the picture" so that people can respond to God. We take prayer very seriously and depend on it - it is the thread woven throughout the tapestry of ministry. We are not interested in a church that only reflects the best that men can do; we pray to become a church that can only be explained by the hand of God. We intentionally make connections with the people of our community. We want people, whether they ever attend our church or not, to view Collierville Bible Church as an asset to the community.
