We proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the evangelical tradition, and we encourage warm fellowship, loving one another through prayer, friendship, and practical help. We participate in area ministries such as the Interfaith food and clothing ministry, and the Norristown Ministries’ soup kitchen. We host and participate in the New Life Bible Institute, and the Norristown Literacy Council. To help fulfill the Great Commission we engage in a variety of domestic and foreign evangelical missions. Organized in 1819, First Presbyterian Church continues to this day to worship and serve the Lord from its historic corner of Airy and DeKalb Streets in Norristown, PA. Our Pastor is Rev. Peter Martin. Our ministry is carried out by the entire congregation. What We Believe We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We proclaim the sovereignty of God Who created all things and sustains and guides all history and people according to His perfect will. His love is supremely expressed in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Who by sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection reconciles alienated human beings to God the Father. We proclaim this salvation to all people, inviting them to receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior from sin and to become members of God’s family. We are grateful for the work of the Holy Spirit Who makes Jesus Christ known, as He convicts of sin and judgment and leads into all truth. We look forward to the coming again of Jesus Christ in power and great glory at the end of this age of grace.
