About We didn't put New Mexico on the map, but we've been helping people find it for over 52 years. Story El Pinto started as a seven table restaurant over 50 years ago, in 1962. "The Salsa Twins" John and Jim Thomas took over the restaurant from their parents in the 80's and today it is a New Mexico icon. From the famous margaritas enjoyed on beautiful patios to the green chile and red chile enjoyed on each entree this is a true taste of New Mexico cuisine. El Pinto salsa, red chile, and green chile is distributed in local grocery stores nationwide.
