About Balsam Mountain Inn is a 105 year-old railroad hotel in the NC mountains, near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains, Dillsboro, Sylva, Waynesville, Cherokee and Western Carolina University. Story The historic Balsam Mountain Inn was opened in 1908 to serve the highest railroad station in the eastern United States.
