About Dr. Butler adheres to a patient care philosophy developed over many years and through continuing education. Our goal is complete dental care and a lifetime Story Dr. Butler received his dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation he moved to Boone, N.C. He has received advanced training to provide the care and services his patients need and deserve. Professors from Chapel Hill started him on an advanced path of study after graduation with Dr. Peter Dawson. The Dawson Institute is known worldwide for its TMJ treatment. He then received advanced training at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, Florida. The Pankey Institute recognizes the importance of TMJ stability and comfort as necessary to create long- lasting dental care. He has had several mentors who have touched and guided him to achieve the highest quality care as a dentist: Dr. Henry Murray – UNC Dental Professor Dr. Jack Sowter – UNC Dental Professor Dr. Parker Mahan – Univ. of Gainesville Dental Professor Dr. Terry Sach – A.S.U. Professor During this time he maintains a private dental office focusing on comprehensive cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. He practices comprehensive dentistry in a relationship-based setting. This focus is not only on dental care but also on the emotional needs of the patient. Dr. Butler has written numerous articles which have been published in psychology journals and dental publications. Through his practice of dentistry, advanced studies and published papers he received the advanced degree of Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the First District Dental Society, the Western Piedmont Dental Society, the Tar Heel Dental Society and the Pankey Alumni Association and has achieved the Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.
