About We go there! Story The Muncie Indiana Transit System, MITS, is an award winning transit system that has been serving the public transportation needs of the community since it was formed in 1981. MITS is organized as a public transportation corporation as specified by state statutes and city council ordinance. It is directed by a five member board whose members are appointed by the mayor and city council to serve four year terms. Mission Mission Statement The mission of the Muncie Indiana Transit System is to provide high quality public transportation that addresses the needs of the community at the lowest cost to the taxpayer and user, and in the process, contributes to the community’s economy and quality of life.
