About:
About A good place to find out about upcoming museum events, exhibit information, pictures, contact information and hours. Story The Hamburg Museum is a community jewel. It is housed in one of Hamburg's most unique historic buildings. The tea room is located in the original Free Methodist Church built in 1865. In 1950, this portion of the current building became the Hamburg Township Hall and remained so until 1986. The Museum's Train Gallery was originally the office of a lumber yard located near the railroad tracks. In 1964 this building was moved near the township hall and opened as Hamburg's first library. In 1976, the local community worked together to raise money and with volunteer help, connected the original library building to the township office to provide more library space. The library moved to its current location on Merrill Road in 2001. The Hamburg Museum opened in 2004. Our permanent galleries highlight the 183 years of Hamburg history. Our Train Gallery depicts Hamburg and the surrounding area as it looked in 1910. The living areas feature beautiful antique furniture, and other artifacts that depict life over the past years. Additionally, we have a military history gallery, a barbershop, and an archive research room.
