About:
Story The Somerville Court House is a Historic Building in Somerville, Somerset County, New Jersey, United States, the county seat of Somerset County. Constructed in 1907 of white marble in the Neo-classical style, it has been the scene of a number of famous trials. In spite of its monumental proportions, it was once considered for demolition for not being large enough to accommodate the growing county. Saved by a number of concerned individuals, it is on the National Historic Register, although superseded by a much larger, modern masonry and glass structure behind it, now serving its judicial functions. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 7, 1989.
