Story The Shire is an owner-operated, independent book shop located on the first floor (6,000 sq. ft.) of an old mill building which allows us to display our 100,000 plus volumes on wide,handicap-accessible aisles. We make every attempt to retain some of the charm of a by-gone era by displaying a variety of nostalgic antique articles throughout the shop. We trust that you will find the atmosphere of our shop conducive to leisurely browsing and there are several reading areas provided for this purpose. We do not have new books, nor do we have a specialty as such, but we offer a quality selection of out-of-print, used, and collectible titles in most major categories
