About Sense-Able Gym has now closed. Our school has moved to Plano and is located within Spring Creek Academy. Please visit our school's Facebook page. Story Sense-Able Gym is a concept designed with the individual child in mind. We offer a fun, sensory play space for children with special needs, but open to typically developing children as well. Our goal is to provide a clean, stress free space for your child to explore, and play in. Mission To build confidence, motivation, problem-solving skills, and socialization through a variety of sensory motor activities personalized to fit your child’s needs. Each child is seen as the spectacular individual they already are, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Products Our Facility Structure Full Sensory/Motor Gym Sense-Able Gym offers a large array of age-appropriate activities for the child with special needs and the typically developing child. We have obstacle courses designed to promote sensory, fine and large motor development, all while your child plays and explores. The gym is open for play during normal operating hours. This is a great way to play any day! Art Alley In Art Alley we offer a number of sensory activities, ranging from un-paint activities to full, messy exploration. The goal of art alley is to let the child explore, which will allow them the ability to gain a number of sensory experiences that are vital to learning. Art Alley is available during normal operating hours. Tech-Nasium Our technology center features a touch screen computer, and iPads with a multitude of fun, educational games for all ages and abilities. Tech-Nasium is available during normal operating hours. Sensory Corner Sensory Corner is a room that will amaze, and delight children as they manipulate bubble tube controls, musical squares, fiber optic tangles, colorful spheres, cubes, and so much more! Sensory Corner is available during normal business hours. The Parent Pit-Stop This is an area provided for parents. Bring a book, bring a laptop, bring a friend, or make a friend, and relax while your child plays. Snack and Drink Center While we don’t have a full service snack bar, we do offer a variety of special, diet friendly snacks and drinks for parents and children along with a coffee bar. Feel free to bring your own snack as well. *Due to numerous food allergies, we do not allow food on the gym floor. Our Services Tutoring: At Sense-Able we offer tutoring for children of all abilities. While we are here to offer homework help, we will also work on concept building. If the child is struggling with homework, it is usually because somewhere along the line, they have missed an important step in learning the overall concept of the material presented in the classroom.Through concept tutoring, your child will not only be able to complete the homework they are given, but will have developed an understanding of core concepts. IEP and Therapy Goals: If your child has an individual education plan and PT/OT goals, we will be happy to meet with you, review your child’s goals, and then set up a plan of action. We then will design a personalized plan with activities that will provide your child with the tools necessary to succeed. We will be available by appointment to help your child work through the personalized plan, and we will provide you with activity instructions for home or use in the gym. We will review the plan often for changes and adjustments. Birthday Parties Some children have a low tolerance for the noisy, over-stimulating environments offered at most children’s venues. We understand and appreciate the needs of all children, and are happy to provide a suitable party venue without an overstimulating atmosphere. Please contact us for more information. Pre-School-Kindergarten Preparation Program What we offer your child is the ability to perform once he or she reaches school age. Children need a variety of sensory motor experiences, and exposure to certain routines, in order to reach today’s academic expectations. Through our preparation program, your child will develop basic communication skills, build social skills, learn school routines, and much, much more. With a strong foundation, your child will enter the primary school environment with confidence. Classes We strive to meet the varied needs of our members by providing a number of different activities. Yoga, dance, martial arts, music therapy, play therapy, and peer-play are options being offered with a certain number of registrations. If there is something you want for your child that you don’t see offered, please let us know and we will do our best to provide it. Open Use Facility Our facility is open for use by therapists, homeschool families, and Support Groups. Please contact us to make arrangements.
