Story Shaka, Inc.’s mission is to grow by maintaining its high reputation as a reliable, well-managed, professional, safety-conscious, and cost-effective construction company. Shaka, Inc. (Shaka), established in 1988 by JC Kono Morosky, is a general contractor providing construction service to both the public and private sectors. Its base of operations is in Jeannette, PA, approximately 30 miles east of Pittsburgh. Shaka is experienced in a wide range of Commercial and Heavy Highway Construction Disciplines, and specializes in Concrete Rehabilitation, Streambank Restoration, and Marine Construction. Shaka also offers Design-Build services. Shaka has been awarded recurrent contracts by several agencies because of their satisfaction with the quality, expedience of our work, and the professionalism we have displayed. The Shaka Team has been recognized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with awards given for successful completion of projects at the Braddock Lock and Dam, Braddock, PA. Shaka, Inc. was also the recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “2009 Minority Business of the Year” award. Shaka offers the opportunity to work with a readily available source of skilled labor through the national construction trade unions with whom we are signed. Shaka also provides the added benefit of satisfying the requirements for minority participation. We are certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) with the following agencies: Pittsburgh Port Authority, Allegheny County, City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Department of General Services, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The U.S. Small Business Administration certifies Shaka, Inc. as a socially and economically disadvantaged firm under their 8(a) program, a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) and a Historically Underutilized Business Zone Business (HUBZone). In addition, Shaka is mentoring a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB).
