About A country school setting displaying many items showing schools' role in settling Iowa. Wed. 10-4, Sat & Sun 2-4 Memorial Day thru Oct. and by appointment. Story A rural school building, in service from 1883 to 1951, moved to the center of Odebolt and now refurbished shows a typical country classroom as well as many displays of rural schools' role in the development of the western 2/3 of Iowa and its settlement. NO CHARGE for entrances. Open Wednesdays 10-4 and Sundays 2-4 Memorial Day through October, or by appointment, calling 712-668-2231 or 712-830-8328. Mission The Rural Legacy Project is devoted to preserving the history of Iowa's rural schools and instilling pride in the heritage of our community.
