About Since 1924, we have served the Essex Middle River area and surrounding communities with care and compassion. We understand that funerals are for the living Story From generation to generation the Connelly family has continued a tradition of personalized service for its surrounding communities. In 1924 John Gordon Connelly Sr. opened the funeral home on Eastern Avenue in Essex. Later, in 1961 Mr. Connelly and his two sons, John Gordon Connelly, Jr. and Charles O. Connelly, Sr. relocated the funeral home to Mace Avenue. Today Terry Connelly, Sr. is the present owner of the funeral home. He is a 1969 graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute in New York City and is a licensed mortician. His brother Gregory Connelly is not a licensed mortician but received his Certification in Mortuary Science from Catonsville Community College. Continuing the family tradition, Robert Terry Connelly, Jr., a licensed mortician, who received a Degree in Mortuary Science from CCBC and is currently the funeral home’s business manager and supervising mortician. Staff members of Connelly Funeral Home of Essex are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.
