About:
About Public airport facilities providing aircraft fuel, maintenance services, hangar rentals -- With Industrial Park buildings and development sites available. Story Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport – Iosco County Wurtsmith Air Force Base was a military installation nominated for closure by the 1991 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission (DBRAC). Local response to base closure included gaining ownership of the former military airfield and establishing Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport (OSC) as a ‘General Aviation’ public airport. Our airfield is configured with a single runway that is 11,800’ long x 200’ wide. The airfield also includes full length parallel taxiway and four connecting taxiways. Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority is utilizing the airfield, inventory of hangars and other former military buildings to attract private business operations. The Airport Authority currently leases out properties to four (4) aircraft maintenance businesses. Those companies collectively employ approximately 950 workers. The former Wurtsmith A.F.B. properties are also being reutilized by 27 small businesses that bring the total number of jobs to approximately 1,500. Therefore, the former Wurtsmith A.F.B. properties are once again serving as the area’s largest employment district. Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport continues to have excess capacity – in terms of runway usage, aircraft parking, buildings and development sites. As such, we will continue developing strategies for attracting a wider variety of aircraft maintenance and repair service providers. The goal is to fully develop Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport as a ‘one stop’ – ‘full service’ aircraft maintenance depot. For additional information, please visit our website at www.oscairport.com. Mission "Promote the unique facilities of Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport through maintaining and upgrading safe and convenient self-sustaining developments that support commercial growth opportunities, while fostering community-valued natural resources." Products Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport is available for public use "24 / 7" (weather permitting). Jet-A and 100LL aircraft fuel are available for self-service customers. Also, aircraft hangar rentals and maintenance services are available.
