Story The Old Douglas County Courthouse was constructed in 1956 and was used as the government headquarters until 1998. It was then adapted for reuse by the Douglas County History and Tourism Commission and became The Douglas County Museum of History and Art. Mission Our mission is to bring to life the history of Douglas County to collect, preserve and display articles that show a broad view of the social, cultural and historic aspects of this area through the promotion and awareness of historical and artistic programs.
