Story The Loose Caboose Campground is a 26-acre campground located in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish Country in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We are a second generation family-owned campground proudly serving the needs of Overnight, Weekly and Seasonal campers for over 25 years. The campground is well-known for its large, secluded wooded sites, yet has the distinction of being located just minutes away from many popular tourist destinations (Rough and Tumble Engineers Historical Association - 1.5 miles, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm - 5 miles, Intercourse, PA Gift Shops - 6 miles, Strasburg Railroad - 8 miles, Railroad Museum of PA - 8 miles, Toy Train Museum - 8 miles, Choo Choo Barn - 8 miles, Sight & Sound Theatre - 10 miles, American Music Theatre - 10 miles, Factory Outlets - 10 miles, Dutch Wonderland - 11 miles, PA Renaissance Faire - 31 miles, Reading, PA - 36 miles, York, PA - 41 miles, Hershey Park - 43 miles, Harrisburg, PA - 53 miles, Philadelphia, PA - 56 miles, Baltimore, MD - 73 miles, Historic Gettysburg - 88 miles, Washington D.C. - 111 miles) and special area events (i.e. Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine & Percy, Annual Rough and Tumble Thresherman’s Reunion, Bird-in-Hand Community Days, etc). We are surrounded by gorgeous Amish farmlands and also offer an excellent view of the passing Amish Buggies and the Amtrak/Norfolk Southern - NS (formerly Conrail) mainline. For this exact reason, part of the campground property was actually used in shooting some of the opening scenes of the 1985 Movie “Witness” starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. We are proud to be current members of the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA), the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), the Lancaster County PA Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau and Delaware County's Brandywine Conference and Visitor's Bureau. Mission Our mission is to make your stay here as enjoyable and peaceful as possible. There is so much to see and do in this famous tourist area that you will never be bored. Even if your goal is just to sit around the campfire and have a nice, relaxing, break from the world, we can offer that as well.
