About Lakeside Recreation just 3 miles outside of Athens Story Enjoy outdoor recreation in a beautiful setting. This 782-acre park surrounds 260-acre Lake Chapman and offers a variety of activities throughout the year. We have a total of nine (9) rentable shelters/facilities. We offer the perfect place for your next picnic, birthday party, family reunion or company event. We can easily accommodate groups regardless of size. (Certain restrictions apply regarding group size. For more information or to book your event please contact park staff at 706-613-3631). Athens-Clarke County takes pride in providing the community with facilities like those of many state parks. There is a $2.00 entry fee per person, ages 4-64. Disc golf and private dog parks are extra.
