About Established 1946 Re-Established Daily Story Celebrate the heritage of this landmark restaurant. The Ranch was established by Loyd and Maxine Engh in 1946 when the young couple converted it from a massive barn original to the [Maxine] Grey family's Devils Lake, ND farmstead. The supper club's popularity grew extensively throughout the Midwest because of its stellar reputation locally and via word of mouth of the many travelling salesman whom made it a regular stop. The Ranch Steakhouse remains a popular stop for travelers as well as a destination for those even hundreds of miles away. The primary focus of The Ranch Steakhouse is to offer the level of honest hospitality for which Midwesterners are known worldwide, along with the quality of food and drink that has made it an iconic restaurant that has stood the test of time.
