Story Animal Hospital of Pitt County was founded by Dr. Lowry and sold to Dr. Mike House and Dr. Jim Barwick, who owned and operated the clinic from the 1960s until Dr. Barwick's retirement and Dr. House's death in 2010. The clinic was purchased from Dr. Barwick and the estate of Dr. House in 2012 by Dr. Mark Hayes, Dr. Brad Medhus and Dr. Anne Eldridge, who also own Tenth Street Animal Hospital and Firetower Animal Clinic, to keep the hospital from being closed down by the NC Veterinary Medical Board. The clinic is undergoing renovation, but will continue to provide outpatient services while the renovations are being made. Full services will be available by April 2013, if all goes well.
