About Informing Policy. Improving Health. Story Based in Topeka, the Kansas Health Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to generating credible research and information around some of the most difficult health policy challenges facing our state. Armed with objective, actionable analysis from the Kansas Health Institute, health policy leaders have more confidence to navigate the complex, politically charged policy environment. Because a range of factors influences our health, we believe a broad approach is needed. Actualizing our vision and achieving our mission requires knowledge transfer, engagement, and actionable information through these key strategies: Community Health Improvement Public Health Services and Systems Health Reform Coverage and Access KHI News Service Strategic Communication and Engagement These strategies guide the work of KHI's policy experts, staff and consultants. KHI staff members are drawn from diverse disciplines, including medicine, public and community health, health policy and management, law, anthropology, political science, sociology, health administration, engineering, communications, journalism and business. Mission To improve the health of all Kansans by supporting effective policy making, engaging at the state and community levels, and providing non-partisan, actionable and evidence-based information.
