About Our mission is to serve as a catalyst and partner for improving the health of vulnerable people in greater Des Moines. Story For 30 years, Mid-Iowa Health Foundation has been a partner and catalyst for improving the health of vulnerable people in greater Des Moines. Formed through an endowment established with the proceeds from the sale of Northwest Community Hospital, we've stayed true to our mission and have carried it out as convener, funder, and partner. We've sat at the table, led the charge and helped finance effective, problem-solving strategies. Well-networked, well funded and knowledgeable, we are ready to enhance our partnerships and accelerate our mission. Advancing our tradition of inquiry, knowledge sharing and innovative funding, we're committed to promoting effective health solutions and the achievement of our vision: optimal health for everyone in our community.
