About:
About CincySmiles is a Cincinnati based non-profit that has been providing dental services to low income residents since 1909. Story CincySmiles Foundation has been a part of the Greater Cincinnati community since 1909. Our name has changed over the years, but our mission has remained the same: to ensure that low income residents of Greater Cincinnati have access to dental treatment and prevention. Today we partner with volunteer dentists who give of their time and services, government agencies that understand the importance of good dental health, corporations who generously support our mission and individual donors who care about dental health. Our programs include the McMicken Dental Clinic for the homeless, the Dental Road Crew, the Sealant Team and Donated Dental Services. McMicken Dental is part of the McMicken Health Collaborative, which addresses the holistic needs of the homeless population. Services include access to health care, mental health services and dental care. Our school based sealant teams serve low income children in eight counties in Greater Cincinnati. A dental hygienist and dental assistant apply sealants to the molars of second graders and sixth graders. They also provide hygiene instructions to students. The Dental Road Crew (DRC) provides comprehensive dental services to low income children in Cincinnati Public Schools. The DRC team works on a state-of-the-art dental mobile van. The team consists of a dentist, three dental assistants (including an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) and a dental hygienist. For many of these students, the DRC is their first encounter with a dentist. Our school based sealant teams serve low income children in eight counties in Greater Cincinnati. A dental hygienist and dental assistant apply sealants to the molars of second graders and sixth graders. They also provide hygiene instructions to students. Finally, our Donated Dental Services Program (DDS) of northern Kentucky and southern Ohio link patients in need to volunteer dentists who provide comprehensive treatment on a no cost or deeply discounted basis.
