Kocsis is a certified Family Law mediator specializing in Court ordered and voluntary participation custody mediation. Janet is a certified family law mediator, specializing in child custody mediation. The purpose of mediation is to give separated parents a chance to discuss their issues and make decisions about their family. In addition to fostering better communication between parents, the mediation process can result in a written agreement without Court intervention. The role of the Mediator is very different from that of an attorney. Unlike an attorney, Janet is a neutral facilitator in the mediation process. She does not favor or advocate for anyone and is not a judge or arbitrator. Janet handles both court ordered and voluntary custody mediation. If parents agree to voluntary custody mediation, the Bradford County Court will permit them to “skip” that mandatory step if mediation does not result in a written agreement and a custody action is later filed. Janet is licensed to practice law in all Pennsylvania State courts and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Bradford County Bar Association. She is a graduate of Governor Mifflin Senior High School, Kutztown University, and Widener University School of Law.
