About:
About The Museum will be closed through the end of this semester for its move to Browne Hall. We will reopen in summer 2018. Mission The programs sponsored by the Johnny Appleseed Society are intended to make history and good character traits “accessible” to children through the medium of the folk hero Johnny Appleseed and his legacy. They are also designed to support elementary educators who are finding that one of the best ways to influence their student’s positive development is to combine their course work with character education, such as the traits found in Johnny Appleseed of self-reliance, community service, integrity, environmentalism, honesty, good citizenship and loyalty. Products All items are available through the Johnny Appleseed Museum, which can be contacted at (937) 772-9297 or Julie.McDaniel@urbana.edu Johnny Appleseed: Man and Myth by Robert Price, $25.00 Apple Recipes Recipes by: Martha Washington's Cookbooks Dr. Elson Haas Robert Rothschild Farm From the recipe book of the late Jean Moore Phyllis Algeo featured recipe: Applesauce Cookin $10.00! A is for Appleseed by Ann Corfman, $10.00 A few years back the Johnny Appleseed Society was given wood from an apple tree John Chapman had planted in Apple Creek (Wayne County), Ohio. Chapman had nurseries there and the local historians verified the tree as one Chapman planted. The wood was stored and kept away from the elements. The Johnny Appleseed Society has made gavels out of the wood. This is a limited edition offer and there will be approximately 50 gavels made from this wood. The Johnny Appleseed Gavels are $100.00 each.
