About Information about West Bath Fire Department Story Firefighting services in the town of West Bath are covered by a 30 member volunteer fire department. The fire department has mutual aid agreements with all surrounding towns. Ambulance service is provided under contract with the City of Bath. The department is incorporated as West Bath Fire Department, and while separate from the town, is headed by Chief Gregory Payson, a part time town appointment position. The town of West Bath owns all buildings and equipment at the fire station located at 192 State Road and raises and appropriates an amount each year at the annual town meeting for fire department operations, capital equipment, and volunteer incentive.
