About:
About Provincetown Bike Rental, Sales and Repair Story Steve and Liz Athineos, brother & sister, have enjoyed bike riding in Provincetown since their first visit with their parents in 1965. Steve owned "Mother's Messengers", a bike messenger company located in the East Village and has been riding all of his life. He lives in Inwood at the North end of Manhattan and rides his bike every day (rain or snow) to work.In the summer of 1987, Steve organized NYC bikers to successfully lift the NYC Government "Ban on Bikes" between 34th to 59th. Meeting with City Officials Steve led the way to creating safe bike paths in Manhattan. Bike safety has been our primary focus which is evident in THE BIKE SHACK'S brand new rental fleet. Liz has enjoyed biking in Provincetown with her son and their friends for years. Liz taught her son when he was six years old how to ride a bike in a field at Coastal Acres Campground which is off West Vine St in the West End. Often you will Liz riding her 1976 Motobecane up and down Commercial Street with her dog Maya in the front basket. The bike used to squeak and rattle badly for years, but our in-house mechanic restored the fast smooth ride she once enjoyed 38 years ago. Liz is hoping to lose a few pounds this summer delivering & picking up rental bikes.
