Story The Phoenix has been a fixture in Georgetown since 1955. Our founders, Betty and Bill Hays, were inspired to bring the vibrant culture they saw in Mexico back home to Washington, DC. For three generations the Hays family has worked directly with artists and artisans; traveling extensively and hand selecting everything that comes into the store. Today, we search far and wide to discover up and coming artists and designers, making every visit to our store an opportunity to explore something new.
