About Our beautiful country style cabins are nestled within the Plumas nation forest in the beautiful mountain city of La Porte California!!! Story Your pets are welcome! La Porte's original name was "Rabbit Creek", is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. Its a great place to get away from modern life and enjoy the pleasures of hiking, fishing, nature walks, mountain biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling or just relaxing on the porch. The first downhill ski races were held in the La Porte area in the 1860's. In the Winter there's lots of snow for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. You can start your cross country ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile trip right out the front door of your cabin. In the Summer, Little Grass Valley Lake is just 2 miles up the road. There's lots of small streams and miles of trails to hike and fish or picnic by. The Pacific Crest Trail passes through this portion of the forest not far from La Porte. There's many historic town sites and cemeteries in the area. Some within walking distance and others within a few hours drive. You're in for a relaxing vacation in La Porte (population 26). La Porte is an old gold mining town first settled in 1851 by 49ers prospecting for gold. In it's heyday, La Porte had a bustling population of about 900 with 7 saloons, 3 hotels, 2 theaters, breweries and a large Chinese section in the vicinity of the China Alley of today. Now La Porte is a sleepy village with a saloon, post office, deli/mini mart museum and of course, our China Alley cabins. Each cabin has a queen size bed, futon, complete kitchen and bathroom. The Bunkhouse Apartments all have queen size beds, complete kitchens, bathroom and satellite TV. We supply everything so you only have to bring your food and move right in. All the cabins are exceptionally clean. The 2 Story Cabin that will sleep 7+. It has two sleeping rooms up stairs with a Queen and single bed in one room, two singles in the other and one sleeping room downstairs with a single bed and two full size couches. The 2 Story Cabin has the same amenities as all of the other cabins.
