About Custom Boat Covers & Upholstery. Serving the Lake Hopatcong community and surrounding areas for over 24 years. Story Maria Pappas opened Batten the Hatches on Lake Hopatcong, NJ way back in 1990. She sold the business in 2013 but circumstances changed and she took the business back in September of 2014 and business is better than ever! It's like she never left. We specialize in custom boat covers & upholstery but can cover just about anything. We do everything from new covers, repairing your old or worn covers, new seats, full interiors or just repair seats that still have some life left in them. We make full enclosures so you can extend the season on your boat. We also make & repair awnings, patio cushions, grill covers etc. You can bring your boat by trailer or by water so stop by anytime..estimates are always free! With our newer and bigger facility, we can bring your boat indoors so we can work in any kind of weather.
