About:
About Boston's ONLY public high school for the visual and performing arts! Currently celebrating 20 years of educating artists, scholars, and citizens. Story Boston Arts Academy (BAA) is celebrating 15 years of educating the next generation of artists, scholars, and citizens! BAA is the city’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts serving over 420 students that reflect the diversity of Boston’s neighborhoods. Our graduates exemplify the transformational power of the arts. Through its innovative curriculum, BAA nurtures the collaborative and creative skills needed to respond to the challenges of the 21st Century. Educators, policy-makers, corporate leaders, and activists from around the world come to BAA because they see our consistent success with urban teens- 94% of our graduates go on to college each year. We continue to refine, innovate, partner, and share because we believe that the solutions for many lie within the arts. Mission Boston Arts Academy (BAA) is Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts. BAA provides a diverse student body, a majority who come from low-income families, access to a college-preparatory arts and academic education not otherwise available to them. Our mission is to prepare a community of aspiring artist-scholars-citizens to be successful in their college or professional careers and to be engaged members of their communities. Our innovative arts and academic curriculum yields impressive results. The Boston Arts Academy Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 1999 to raise essential funds for the school. Each year, the BAA Foundation raises nearly 40% of the school’s budget from private sources. The BAA Foundation helps bridge the gap between the school’s allocation from the Boston Public Schools, and the true cost of a high-quality education that is both arts-intensive and college preparatory. Support from foundations, corporations, and individual donors is critical to the school’s ability to offer a comprehensive arts and academic education. Without such support, our city’s young people, living in one of the cultural capitals of the world, would not be able to attend a public arts high school.
