About St. Clair County Historical Society educates, preserves and disseminates the fascinating story of St. Clair County, Illinois. Mission The St. Clair County Historical Society is dedicated to education, preservation and community outreach. Education: Education involves a dynamic process of teaching and learning. The Society teaches by utilizing its collections, museums and people to tell the story of St. Clair County. The Society learns by interacting with the communities that we serve and the historical field at large to refine and deepen our understanding of the past. Preservation: It is impossible to fully understand the past without tangible evidence of it. The Society preserves by cataloguing, maintaining, expanding and promoting our collection of historical artifacts. Community Outreach: Our success depends on deep and meaningful connections to the communites that we serve. The Society engages in outreach by raising awareness of our activities and our mission.
