Today, it continues in the tradition of the grand cemeteries of the 19th Century, boasting mature plantings, stately trees, grand mausoleums, and a historic chapel designed by the prominent Philadelphia architect Frank Furness. Shady walkways, meticulous grounds-keeping, and well-preserved memorials make this a place of beauty, serenity, and grace. Yet Mt. Sinai is only a scant 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia, and just five minutes off I-95’s Bridge Street exit, convenient to Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The cemetery accepts Jews of all sects (Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Unaffiliated) as well as non-Jewish spouses/other immediate family members of Jewish lot holders. We also provide an environmentally-friendly approach to interment, and welcome those who have chosen cremation. Mission Cemetery serving the Philadelphia Jewish Community Products Mt. Sinai is not aligned with any specific synagogue and accepts Jews of every sect (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Unaffiliated). Non-Jewish spouses or other immediate relatives of Jewish lot holders may also be buried here. Mt. Sinai does not require vault or coffin liners, making us an appropriate place for Orthodox Jews and for those seeking a greener approach to interment. We also accept those who have chosen cremation.
