About CAIT is a USDOT University Transportation Center (UTC) Story Self-supporting infrastructure research center affiliated with Rutgers School of Engineering. A USDOT University Transportation Center since 1998. Mission CAIT excels at solving complex, interrelated infrastructure problems, specifically in densely populated, high-volume transportation corridors. Addressing the broad spectrum of multimodal transportation, CAIT is helping meet the need for safe, effectual, and environmentally sound movement of people and goods in our nation and beyond. We are committed to moving research from the lab into real-world applications that solve real-world problems. Simply stated, CAIT’s goal is to improve the quality of life by making our country's infrastructure safer, more durable, and more efficient.
