About The Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission, with the support of the Anthracite Heritage Museum & Iron Furnaces Associates. Story The Anthracite Heritage Museum serves the educational needs of the public regarding the story of hard coal mining, its related industries, and the immigrant culture of northeastern Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and is actively supported by the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnaces Associates which is a non-profit community based organization. The Anthracite Heritage Museum and Scranton Iron Furnaces welcomes and encourages support from individuals, organizations, foundations, corporations, businesses, and other entities that enables the educational mission to preserve, interpret and promote the heritage of the Anthracite Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Monetary donations, memorial gifts or contributions to the Annual Appeal help to achieve the goals and objectives of the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Scranton Iron Furnaces.
