My friend and I meet at El Cortez for lunch once every couple of months. We sit at the bar and have a few beers and have never been disappointed. She called me a few days ago and said she had been thinking about Tacos at El Cortez all week and asked if we could meet up. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The food is great and the selection at the bar is plentiful. Every visit to El Cortez is always a good time.

Nice, relaxed spot for great Mexican food. Their patio is a great spot to eat. Their mole sauce is on point and their nachos are unique and great! Servers are friendly and welcoming.

I had the Plato Cortez. Everything was good. I had water which had free refills but they do charge for soda refills. Husband had a shrimp cocktail and he said it was good bit the shrimp could have been bigger. The rice and beans were your average rice and beans.

Feel like this place nickel & dimes you. Have to pay for chips after first basket. Now no free refills on pop. Feel like the food prices should cover so you can have as much chips and salsa (as long as you order food) as u want. Sour cream not even a spoonful extra. Won't be back unless someone else really wants to go

Food was good.   Did not like having to pay for an additional basket of chips and that they no longer offer free soda refills due to the "Cook County soda tax". $$
