Thank you Long Beach for providing this heavenly slice of nature in our city. I recommend getting a yearly pass for parking. It's much cheaper than paying each time. If you are over 50, the fee is almost half. You can purchase the parking pass in the Nature Center office. It’s not open on Mondays and closes at 5pm.

Beautiful, the only thing is that there was a sign at the entrance saying you weren't allowed to take photos unless it was of nature. Before they only said no props, this time it even specified no graduation photos which sucks because that's what we went for and we didn't leave because we had already paid $7 for parking. Other then that though, the place is amazing and a wonderful learning experience for people and kids of all ages. So much fun!

Well preserved nature in the east of long beach in the heart of El Dorado Park. True getaway from the more busier parts of town. It offers quiet walking paths with lots of squirrels to be observed. It encompasses a small lake with turtles. Dedicated volunteers help keeping this awesome facility up and running for you.

It’s Spring Break and where do you take media obsessed kids and adults? You give them all a healthy dose of nature! We ditched the electronics for the day, steered clear of crowded amusement parks, and resisted the temptation to exchange the phone screens for the movie screen today. Big surprise... we enjoyed the day and lived to share the experience! We plunked down the $5 (weekday price) cash only entry fee for our vehicle. What a bargain! Where else are you going to only spend five bucks for some quality time with your squad? The Nature Center offered some displays about local wildlife, touch friendly tables, and bird identification. Along with a fun little gift shop, and live insects displays, the center offers clean restrooms, tips for wildlife friendly home gardens, and friendly staff. There are three trails available. We started off by walking the 1/4 mile and added the one mile. We skipped the two mile trail in favor of going for frozen yogurts, but decided it is definitely worth another visit in the near future. We spotted squirrels, ducks, lizards, geese, California cottontails, and a snowy egret. We took a moment to listen to the chirp of birds in the trees. We caught a cool breeze as it rustled through the purple sage. We connected with nature and each other instead of our phones, tablets, and computers. Do yourself a favor and stop by the El Dorado Nature Center.
