Nope! No, no!! Don't go. I really feel like you're rolling a Russian roulette on service here. I had a horrible experience, and I'm pretty easy going. Had been going to vet for years and we loved him!....until we were treated so rudely by the older assistant and most shockingly, by the vet himself. The older assistant had quoted us the wrong appointment time. When we showed up, she treated us rudely for being "late". If there was a miscommunication then fine ...but I was so shocked at the attitude (we're easy going nice people!). The worst is that even Dr. S. treated us rudely. We loved him and it was so shocking that he gave us the cold shoulder (he had been so nice to us before). We also were there for an emergency (our cat was severely constipated). He told us there's nothing he could do for us and directed us to the expensive animal hospital. In tears and disbelief after leaving, we were actually able to find an affordable vet that helped us treat our cat. Anyway, never, ever going back to the this place. The younger receptionist was very nice and was sympathetic. Anyway, I do NOT recommend!!!! (Unless there's a different vet and different assistant, maybe you'll be fine)

Great vet who doesn't nickle and dime. All vets should be like them. I have found a few good vets over the years, and the are one of them. Today, I couldn't get into my usual vet who I love. They set the bar super high and never upsell you. I went to an animal hospital in Ramona and left there with no service provided. They tried to upsell me on things that were not even issues. They had a long list of line items and for things other than the foxtail in the nose I had brought my puppy in for. Even their office visit/exam is overpriced compared to my usual vet. I left and was lucky enough to find El Norte Vet Clinic. I had been here years ago, maybe like 9 and remebered they were good too. I called and boy are they still great. They were honest enough to give me a rough estimate over the phone. The other vet and some others I called would not. There is no reason a vet can't give you a rough estimate for best/worst case scenario when you know what the issue is. I brought my pup in and the visit was quick, they took her back and I got to go to work. They charged me half the price of what the other vet was going to charge. They didn't upsell me. I even asked them about this "so called" issue the other vet tried to charge me 150-200 for and he said it was not a concern. If I was worried to use a little neosporin. Now that is my kind of vet! The first vet who tired to over charge me, wanted double for the work and it took El Norte Clinic an hour before they called to say they got the foxtail out and by furr baby was ready to go home. Highly recommend El Norte Vet Clinic!!

I like the Vet but the receptionist, Chrissy, was rude and arrogant. I left this place very upset. Shame for this employee.

I love going to El Norte Veterinary Clinic for all my pets. Dr. Sergent is like an old fashioned hometown vet that is in it for the love of animals, not to pad your bill. I used to go to another vet in town, and they used to urge me all the time that my cats needed a dental cleaning. One year, after just having my cat's teeth cleaned the year before, the vet tech told me that my cat's teeth were in dire need of cleaning again. Since El Norte Vet is so much more affordable for teeth cleaning, I made an appointment for the following week and was very surprised when I received a phone call from them during my cat's procedure telling me that his teeth were just fine and were not in need of cleaning at this time. They were kind enough to pro rate my charge since they had already put him under and then just cleaned what they could. How honest was that? Most vets would have just taken the money and run! This is just one example of how honest this clinic is.

12/12/2016 – One week ago my Miniature Schnauzer stopped eating and drinking. I thought my dog’s condition was temporary. Probably a result of something he ate that upset his stomach. I soon realized my dog’s medical condition was more serious. My dog wouldn’t open his mouth or allow me to touch his muzzle. I called El Norte Veterinary office and spoke to Chrissie and told her what was going on. Chrissie told me to bring my dog in the same day and she would squeeze him in. Dr. Timothy Sherman, examined my dog and told me that my dog’s medical problem was a result of a dental issue. He would need to sedate my dog so he could examine and treat him. I also requested that Dr. Sherman remove a fatty lump that had developed on his side, during this procedure. Dr. Sherman gave me a cost estimate that was fair and affordable. Dr. Sherman told me he would call me if he discovered any other problem that would increase the cost. Chrissie called me later that day and told me my dog was ready for pick up. Dr. Sherman extracted several loose teeth, cleaned my dog’s remaining teeth, and removed a small fatty lump for $800. My price would have doubled had I gone to any other clinic, urgent care or emergency care. Dr. Timothy Sherman (Owner) and Dr. Michael Sergent are the two doctors who work at the El Norte Veterinary Clinic, 1014 W. El Norte Pkwy, Escondido, Ca 92026, (760) 432-0400. Dr. Michael Sergent has also seen and treated my dog during the past five years. I highly recommend both Dr. Timothy Sherman (Owner) and Dr Michael Sergent. Their prices for treating pets will be less than most veterinary offices, urgent cares or emergency services. The office staff is both professional and kind.
