Fantastic place for authentic Mexican food, located in the center of Jean Talon Market.   We've been regulars for many years, and they don't disappoint.  It has a great shop inside with a huge variety of Mexican ingredients.  Great stop for a meal while doing some food shoppingFood: 4/5

Went here for lunch and found it to be a solid Mexican spot. We got the 1/4 kg chicken tacos and the sopes with chorizo. The tacos were solid, chicken was juicy and tasty and the tortillas were soft in a good way. The sopes were good but I found the chorizo to be a bit salty but my partner enjoyed them. I wouldn’t necessarily come back here but I would recommend to someone who has never tried real Mexican food.

El Rey del taco is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Montreal!! It’s everything you want— authentic, delicious, affordable, and has a great ambiance. I believe there’s even a terrace at the back in the summer.  The food we had fish tacos and meat nachos was amazingly fresh and served quickly. Yummy drinks as well.  Will be back asap!!

Amazing and authentic Mexican restaurant! Staff was friendly if a bit slow, but the place was nicely decorated with some of the brst Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico! Amazing horchata and quac, I would recommend both, and the choriqueso for sure. If you like it or want to try something new, the beef tongue tacos are great as well.

If you're looking for authentic, look no further. If your idea of a good taco starts with a hard shell, then do yourself a favor and come down here.  Ever since I lived in L.A, I've been on the hunt for the taste of authenticity. I found the best tamales here, it's not even comparable. Service is always warm and portions and massive for such a cheap price.

Finding le Roi was a very nice surprise. Visiting Jean talon during the week offers limited options. When we saw le Roi was opened, it was an easy decision. Once inside, the ambience was cozy and welcoming. The menu is quite extensive and everything we tried was delicious and served in generous portions.  Horchata is a must!  Horchata is an absolute must!

When a waiter came to took our order, he got out of staff 20 min after. 40 min in waiting, no one bother to take care of us or go check why were we waiting without a menu on. When i finnally go talk to a waiter, they told me to wait cause they are very. After a FULL HOUR of waiting we got up thinking were not even gonna wait for our plate. AT THAT TIME, 2 waiter start coming to us saying sorry it wont be long. He even propose to cancel on item cause he took too long. Thats not how u treat customers

Ordered from here for the first time for to go since I was very craving meat as a pregnant woman . Sadly I came home to a dry meal instead . the soup is rather too greasy and the beef tacos came with a very spicy sauce even though I told them I can’t eat spicy . Lucky it was in the side ! The salade I managed to eat a bit yet even though I mentioned no onions , the avocado on the side of the salad my husband ordered came with some with lots of onions …. What a total waste of $$ with lots of tasteless ,greasy or rather should I say dry meal ????

I have been to this establishment several times and I have nothing but great stuff to say. I always had a really good experience and the food has always been perfect! I love the huevos rancheros from the brunch menue!
