Unfortunately, I frequent El Rey often because it's just blocks from my house and convenient. The prices are out of this world, the meat department always has the strangest smell back there but the biggest problem is the customer service. I have been inside this store probably close to 100 times and NOT ONCE have I felt welcomed. The cashiers are so incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming. The lady who works at post office/cigarette counter is always nice though. It's a shame because this store is constantly busy and obviously does a lot of business so why not treat their customers with some kindness and at least SMILE at you!! The store itself is very festive and decorated beautifully but too bad the cashiers ruin the atmosphere.

Excellent breakfast and good prices on some produce. Don't neglect the meat counter, the fajita mix is great. Also, mariachi duet on Saturday afternoon.

Shelves well stocked. Food ready to eat tasty. Restaurant area needs to be a bit more clean.

The cooked food is delicious. When I lived in Milwaukee I frequented the store on a regular basis. Now, whenever I come to visit it is a must visit place. The Barbacoa, Puerto Rican rice, and the tamales are delicious. I have had other things on the menu and have never been disappointed. If you like good authentic Mexican food you cannot go wrong here.
