It was an overall great experience. This is a review of the the honeymoon suite (Longwood). We were running really late getting in and called ahead to let them know. They were very understanding and grateful for the courtesy. When we arrived, we were greeted kindly and shown to our room. It is a very beautiful room (see photos). We were given a gift bag full of chocolates which was a nice touch. My wife fell in love with the place. The suite is well appointed and comfortable. There were little notes for everything answering all of our questions. It has hand stenciled paintings throughout the suite. Like a home away from home. There's one room dedicated to a jacuzzi tub. The bed and pillows were very comfy. There was also a small flat screen in the bedroom and a gas fireplace. The bathroom was large and well furnished. The living room area has a flat screen and comfy couch (along with a microwave and refrigerator and another fireplace). The grounds are well tended. Lots of trees and flowers. The trail was also nicely tended and follows a large creek. Its a short walk. Breakfast was nice, but not too special. What you'd normally find at a good hotel. However, we were invited to 'High Tea' on Saturday and that was quite the experience. There was full service, a number of teas, a theme, and numerous small food courses that were all well prepared. All under a nice canopy near a beautiful fountain. I would go again just for that. Spa service was offered, but unfortunately, it didn't fit into our schedule. All of the staff that we met were both helpful and friendly. Only cons are somewhat expected. Its an old house, so doors and floors squeak. It also wasn't obvious where to go when heading to our room. But the owner guided us there, so all was good.

From check in to check out Outstanding service I wanted to get out of my element and experience a B&B. I was greeted at the door to check in by far the best experience a hotel could ever give it did give me a modern/classic(1930's) feel .Breakfast was even better and I even got a chance to meet the owners I've traveled the globe and I'm big on customer service and who my money is going to.Me and my spouse did the couples massage and it was well worth it if I'm even considering doing my vow renewals here it's such a loving atmosphere.

The location is great! Place could definitely use some dusting. Also the breakfast could hv a few more choices. And being able to contact someone at the front desk after you check in would be a plus.

Relax and travel back in time at this beautiful, elegant, Colonial manor house that's only a short drive from Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.! We stayed here at the recommendation of a friend who lives nearby. We arrived and found out there was a big wedding there the next day, and they upgraded us to the large Valley Forge suite. And gave us a personalized gift bag with candy, biscotti and other treats. The suite was breathtaking. The bedroom has Queen bed, full bath, decent closet and a large hot tub! A separate living room with a couch, desk, mini-fridge and microwave has folding doors to separate the rooms. Both rooms have large flat-screen TVs and working gas fireplaces. Flip the switch and you can take the chill off of those crisp winter nights. The air conditioning is just right. The sheets, blankets and pillows are wonderfully luxurious, and the bed is a delight for sleeping. The towels are wonderfully thick and absorbant. But it's the little extras that make all the difference. There is bottled water waiting in the room, The closet contains a wonderful logo bathrobe. The shower has shanpoo and conditioner dispensers built in. The free wifi is strong and fast, with routers placed to good advantage. Picking up the lobby phone connects you automatically to the cell phone of a staffer on duty. Just outside our suite is a patio with a table and chairs, and a small koi pond. The woods and creek provide excellent walking trails. Breakfast in the solarium (!) is homemade and lovely. Choices included fresh fruit and juices, coffee, egg and sausage casserole (gluten-free!), pastries or granola or even a Betty-type crumble. Yogurt is available as well. Considering that the Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast Inn is leas than an hour from Baltimore and two hours from Washington, DC, it seems like a world away. If you want to unplug, unwind and unstress, this is the place. We will be back soon!
