This may be one of the few "less inspired" reviews.  My riding partner is a seasoned "rails to trail" rider, and was happy with it, but I found the trail to be a bit disappointing.  Bear in mind this is coming from someone who's accustomed to highway ridin, almost exclusively.  Anyway,  I tagged along to enjoy the landscape, only to find myself riding in a tunnel of vegetation the majority of the time.  A very myopic experience, IMO.  It got to the point where I ended up riding on hwy71,  which runs parallel the entire route, and meeting my partner at the towns.  The tunnels were interesting, but you can't ride through them, the floor is treacherous, and the longest one was basically like walking through a rain storm on a 40 degree night.

Great trail with 3 tunnels.  Awesome views. We loved it!

A wonderful trail with 3 large tunnels. As part of the "Rails to Trails" program, the grade is quite good.

A state trail pass is needed, and starting at and Elroy is highly recommended.  Starting at Sparta, is riding up hill, but it's a beautiful ride.
